Me, I prefer my “compu-day pack”. It’s a backpack for my laptop and digital SLR camera that holds a lot of gear and accessories.
It’s also misleading when checking in to the airport. Fully loaded, it’s so heavy that my shoulder aches. But, most checkers let me go because it looks light for excess fee.

For check in bags, I usually go for my hard-case samsonite, but only if the baggage allowance is 30 kilos. My samsonite weighs 6 kilos.
If the baggage allowance is 20 kilos, I use my army bag to check in.
I make it a habit to travel with a carry-on bag that is as light as possible… for this I use my all-leather firenze bag. I carry in it all of my personal electronics, a spare shirt, socks and underwear, travel documents and reading material. this usually weighs no more than 4 kilos. I pity those who drag behind them 15 kilos of handcarried bags on wheels.
