After reading extensive reviews about the 16G 3″ 16:9 TFT TouchScreen MP5 Player and similar IPod clones offered on Amazon.com, I decided to take a risk and order one.

While waiting for the player to arrive, I received a detailed e-mail from PE with links to the Pro EB online storefront that included helpful user manuals and online videos for my Touch media player

The TouchScreen Player arrived a few days later via USPS, bundled with:
    USB cable
Electrical Outlet / USB attachment to recharge.
    Telescoping aluminum wand.
Headphones with in-line volume adjustment knob.
    Silicone protector.
    Printed instruction manual.

Initial battery charge time took approximately 4.5 hours with later charges being around 2 hours.
While recharging, a 3-D animation of a battery filling up with metal rings plays on the screen. Once complete, the animation stops with an image of a full battery. Kinda neat :)

The printed manual was a hard read as the English translation is rather rough.
The online guide is worlds apart from the manual; vastly expanded and as an added plus for me, it included tons of pictures and screenshots.

After using the Touch Player for a while, I did notice a few things:
    * Audio: Appears to handle almost any audio format thrown at it.
    * Video: AVI files appear to work best(uncompressed), followed by WMA and Real Player.
    * MP4 files are a definite hit or miss with even the online guide admitting that MP4 playback on this player is not so hot.
A link to a free MP4 to AVI converter is included in the online guide and it makes file conversions a breeze.

    Also:
    * The Touch Player is indeed 16 Gigs. The purchase form states it in writing and the memory meter accessed via the “settings” icon on the player itself also states it with a handy “memory used” reading.
    * This player accepts up to 4GB MICRO SD cards for memory expansion. Micro SDHC cards are not compatible.
    * The player can recharge via USB when connected to the computer, simply click the “safely remove hardware” icon at the bottom of your computer screen if using Windows.
    * The wand is OK but almost all of the navigation can be done with a nimble finger or the silver side buttons without issue.
    * SLOW DOWN. Fast double clicks result in a non-response. “Click, pause, click” works best.
    * In the case if no response for buttons around the edge of the screen, the touch area can be adjusted via the “settings” icon.
    * The bundled USB cable is very short, almost unusable if your computer tower sits under the desk. I tried a USB cable left over from a digital camera that’s 6ft long and it works perfectly.
    * If ID3 information is included with the mp3, this player can automatically categorize your music by artist, album and genre if you select the Music icon followed by “Media Lab Update”. Also very neat! :)
    * Be careful. The player is a tad delicate and very light. The bundled silicone protector is a godsend and will guard against knocks and bumps.
    * For those familiar with mp4 player modifications, This player is powered by the RK2706 chip or “Rockchip 2706″ that offers the ability to modify and change the player’s look, layout and select features.

After loading 100 + songs and 5 Movies on the player and using it all week, I am extremely impressed.
Several of my co-workers are taking advantage of this very affordable player and ordering them as presents. I took their lead and ordered a second one as a gift myself!

    :: UPDATE ::
It’s been approximately 6 months and the 2nd player I bought as a gift I wound up keeping! One player for me to use during the day and one I keep in my car.

Battery charge time has reduced to approximately 1.5 hours with an average battery life of around 3.5 hours, with the screen off, consistently.

I have not ran into the “File format error(s)” Listed in other reviews with video. It could be the fact that I only load uncompressed AVI files or DivX / XviD compressed formats on this player now, or I could just be lucky. Apologies to others who experienced a rough patch with video.

In the mean time, I also purchased the sleeker designed 2.8″ Nationite S:flo touch player from another vendor. While the S:flo offers animated screens, multi-touch capacity and a host of other bells and whistles, the ProEB touch player has proved to be the favorite. It has shown itself to be surprisingly durable, easy to operate, (after a bit of practice) and recognized on every computer I attached it to so far.
Something I can’t say for the fancier Nationite S:flo.

There is nothing new of a critical nature for me to say about this Touch Player other than what was already explored in the comments section.

Six months down the line and I am still quite happy with the PE Touch Player.

Easy to use. Would have been perfect with some minor improvement
I bought two of the 8GB version from this company a while ago for my friend and younger brother. They liked them so much that I decided to get one for myself.

First, the seller was a different one (myoutlet21) when I bought it on Oct 22. And I noticed a price increase. However, the link is here so I put my review here.

my gadget has 16G, can play avi, but almost nothing else. the flv, wmv and mp4 are all recognized but “format error”. another problem is the usb end is misaligned so I almost broke the usb wire to make the connection. also, the box and manual all said it is a mp4 instead of mp5. I am not sure what is the reason so emailed the seller. He was pretty sure about the item but had no idea why the non-recognize happened.

I was sad about this purchase almost right away. However, the customer service is fast and reasonable. They gave me partial refund so that i get a reasonable price for a 16G flash drive, maybe Mp4 player.

Whatever, I will say good luck.
    —————add more———-
I played more on this. add more:
    1. You have to use touch screen for full function. but it is not convenient to use stylus all the time, especially on such a small screen when walking. if the button can do more, that will be better.
    2. the txt reader program is not well designed. If I use the button, I can only turn one line. I have to use the stylus to turn one page.
    3. if i hit “page down” wrong (trust me, this happened all the time, even with stylus), txt reader will close. And when I return back, the reader just shows the first page. No way I can remember which page I was and jump back to that page. Yes, you can set a page mark to remember the position, but this is about out of program by mistake. If it can remember the previous position, it will be better.
    4. when using video player, you can fast forward. but the screen turns green after that. so, you will have to close and re-open it.

Nice features Mp4/ but I charged it one day, and the next day I had problems turning it on (I believe on switch is not working).

    Cheap but good quality
For the price, you cannot beat it. I paid about 90 dallars including shipping 6 month ago. I am a little bit p**sed when I saw the price today. But, I guess that is ok.

    Poor quality and service
My son purchased this item, and within the 90 day warranty period the battery failed (5 minute max charge) the external speaker quit working, and it does not play mp4 or mp5…

A decent product with large memory
Bought this one for my sister’s birthday 2 month ago. She loves it. The touch screen is very responsive and the video is decent.

    Don’t Waste Your Money
The price is low for a reason – this is a supposedly feature rich player – but actual use results in a VERY POOR SCREEN RESPONSE TO INPUT.

    Incredible value
Received this a few days ago, and here’s my review thus far on a scale from 1-10.
    Display: 9
    - Superb picture quality better or on-par with top name brands…

I purchased this in April, 2009 to replace my 8gb player. So far so good. I’ve had absolutely no problems with it.

    Garbage
I am very disappointed in the player. Do not buy it, it is nothing but junk. The touchscreen is unresponsive. It get “confused” and you have to use the reset button.
