They are not air tight. I bought a package of the travel Space bags that you role the air out of instead of vacuum out.

Medium carry-on fits only so much
I’ve only used the space bag on one trip and the medium sized bag worked well for two thin beach towels.

This is a terrible product and is intrinsically defective.
The plastic that these bags are made of is way too thin to be practical. The bags rip very easily, even when used exactly as the manufacturer specifies.

Pretty good
We bought these bags for a recent motorcycle trip. They certainly compress the clothes and you can take much more with you(it’s quite amazing how much room “air” takes up).
