Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens
Lightweight and affordable, the Canon EF 50mm lens–which offers a fast f/1.8 aperture–is an excellent lens for people who prefer a fixed focal length. Canon’s lightest EF lens at a mere 4.6 ounces, the lens boasts a traditional Gauss-type optical design that delivers a sharp performance even when wide open. As a result, the lens provides an image that’s extremely close to how your eye perceives a subject, making it excellent for portraits and images that require a natural depth of field. In addition, the lens focuses as close as 18 inches, helping you take extreme close-ups. Finally, the lens offers an excellent color balance. As with all Canon lenses, the lens carries a one-year warranty. Focal length: 50mm Maximum apert (more…)

This should be the growing photographer’s second purchase
After buying a body and using what will probably be the standard kit lens that shipped with it, you’re shopping for a new lens. Yeow!

Performs beyond expectations.
I just started using this wonderful little lens with my new 500D and I’m blown away! I have the 18-55mm kit len and the EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.

A must have for the price.
This lens is sharper than my 24-60mm 2.8 that cost 4x as much. It really makes the case for primes. Fun to use.

Great for the price
I’ve just got this lens and I love it. It’s the least expensive canon lens, yet it provides great image quality and has a very good performance with available light.

A must have in the bag (for most people) but…..
I’ve got this lens, and very handy when needed. If you have a crop-sensor dSLR this makes a great, inexpensive portrait lens.

Portrait Lens
I shopped around for this Lens and this was by far the best value I found on the Net. Local camera stores do not even stock this type of Lens.

Nice, but not that well made.
I expected a little more from a canon lens. I’ve had it about a month now and already the autofocus is out (not that big of a deal because I usually use manual anyway).
